Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends football scholarships for his parents and commitment for the community. He was the eldest child of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. On the football field, he competed alongside three siblings for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. A year later, in 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the United States by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. Oklahoma was the winner of two National Championships over his three-year tenure as the lineman. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship. He was recognized as the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a diploma in education. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduation, he relocated to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times, before beginning a new business career. In 1988 he became an account relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's the top 10 most promising young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when was playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the team. Lee Roy was appointed the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame was in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
